A few things may be happening:

1. Check your Promotions or Spam folder: sometimes Gmail or Outlook filters newsletters automatically. Search: "L.A. Material"

If you find an email from us:

1. Mark as "Not Spam"

2. Add us to your contacts

2. Check your Subscription Preferences: you may have accidentally switched to fewer emails or opted out of delivery

To open and update your Subscription Preferences:

1. Open any L.A. Material email

2. Scroll to the bottom

3. Click "email preferences" (this will take you to your profile on the L.A. Material website)

4. Scroll to "Subscription Preferences" section

Check that newsletters are toggled ON. Options include:

Daily Newsletter Monday - Friday: Our free weekday newsletter featuring original reporting and links to the most interesting stories in L.A.

Weekend Roundup Saturday: Our free weekly recap of L.A. Material's best reporting and the L.A. links you loved most.

You can also reach "Subscription Preferences" by navigating to "Sign In" in the top right corner of the L.A. Material website and clicking on "Manage Profile." If you are already logged in, you will see a user icon in the top right corner of the website instead of the "Sign In" link.

3. Try subscribing again: You may have unsubscribed accidentally; try subscribing again using your desired email address.

L.A. Material uses passwordless login through Beehiiv. Instead of a password, you'll receive a one-time login code to the email you subscribed with.

How to log in:

1. Navigate to the login module: www.lamaterial.com/login

2. Enter your email address

3. Check your inbox for a login code

4. Copy and paste the code into the login screen

If you don't see the code:

1. Check Spam/Promotions

2. Wait 1–2 minutes

3. Search for this subject line: "Your one-time login code for L.A. Material"

If the code isn't working:

Make sure you use the most recent code that's been sent to your email. If you have tried to login a few times, you may have received multiple codes on the same email thread and be copying/pasting an old code.

Double-check which email you used to subscribe: you may have accidentally subscribed with:

1. A different email than you're trying to login with

2. Apple Hide My Email

3. An email address that has typos

Why doesn't L.A. Material use passwords?

L.A. Material is hosted on Beehiiv, which uses passwordless login to make access more secure. Instead of a password, you will receive a temporary code by email to copy/paste into the login flow whenever you log in.

Our paying subscribers have access to the L.A. Forum, our Discord group.

Join the Discord through your membership welcome email:

1. Search for your membership welcome email (Subject: "Thank you for your support")

2. Scroll to the button titled "Join the Forum"

3. Click on the button

4. Follow the steps to connect to Discord

You can also gain access to the Discord from your Profile on the L.A. Material website.

Access your profile by navigating to "Sign In" in the top right corner of the L.A. Material website (with the email associated with your membership) and clicking on "Manage Profile" (If you are already logged in, you will see a user icon in the top right corner of the website instead of the "Sign In" link). From there:

1. Scroll to the "Account Profile" section

2. Click the 3 dots on the right hand corner of "Account Profile"

3. Select "Connections"

4. A box will pop up that shows Discord. Click on the "Connect" button and follow the steps as prompted
