Will the rest of the D Line extension be delayed?

The first phase of the D Line extension — the subway running under Wilshire Boulevard — opened in May. Throngs of people went to check it out on its first day in service, marveling at the sheer speed of the train as it tore under Los Angeles’ famously congested thoroughfare.
Sections 2 and 3 of the extension are next — and ostensibly coming soon. Per Metro, Section 2 (which will extend the line to Century City) is due in “Spring 2027”; Section 3 (which runs to UCLA and then across the 405 to the VA) in “Fall 2027.”
But while taking a closer look this week at Metro reports that get granular about whether the extension will get done on time — and before the Olympics, when UCLA is slated to house 17,500 athletes and support personnel — we spotted something strange.
