No purchase is necessary to participate or earn rewards.
Promotion Period
The L.A. Material Referral Program (the “Referral Program”) begins on July 6, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time and ends on August 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (the “Promotion Period”), unless extended, suspended, or modified in accordance with these Official Rules. The Referral Program is available only to legal residents of California who are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction if higher. Void where prohibited by law. Any purchase or redemption of alcoholic beverages using a reward is further subject to a minimum age of 21, as described below.
Qualifying Referrals
A “Qualifying Referral” is a new L.A. Material newsletter subscriber who:
Signs up using a participant’s unique referral link or code;
Remains subscribed for at least fourteen (14) consecutive days; and
Opens at least three (3) L.A. Material emails during that fourteen-day period, as reflected in L.A. Material’s email platform records.
Only referrals that satisfy all Qualifying Referral requirements by the end of the Promotion Period will count.
Existing subscribers, former subscribers, duplicate subscriptions, and self-referrals do not qualify.
L.A. Material’s referral and email platform records will govern the determination of Qualifying Referrals and referral totals.
Referral Rewards
Subscribers may earn the following rewards for confirmed, qualifying referrals:
5 qualifying referrals: Bumper Sticker, approximate retail value: $8
10 qualifying referrals: $10 Homage Brewing Gift Card toward any beverage, approximate retail value: $10
15 qualifying referrals: Tote Bag, approximate retail value: $32
25 qualifying referrals: Hat, approximate retail value: $36
Rewards are cumulative. A participant who reaches a higher referral tier may also receive rewards earned at lower tiers. Rewards are limited to one per participant per referral tier.
L.A. Material reserves the right to substitute a reward with a reward of equal or greater value if the originally offered reward becomes unavailable.
Fraud and Abuse
L.A. Material reserves the right to disqualify any referral or participant that it reasonably determines has engaged in fraud, abuse, manipulation, or conduct inconsistent with the intended operation of the Referral Program. Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation, the use of fake, duplicate, automated, disposable, or self-controlled email addresses; bots or automated referral methods; manipulation of email opens or engagement metrics; purchased or improperly obtained email addresses; and any other attempt to artificially inflate referral counts.
Participants may share their referral links only through lawful and non-deceptive means. Participants may not send unsolicited commercial emails or bulk messages, use purchased or harvested contact lists, make false or misleading statements about L.A. Material or the Referral Program, or otherwise promote their referral link in violation of applicable law. L.A. Material may disqualify participants for prohibited promotional activity.
When promoting a referral link publicly or on social media, participants must clearly disclose that they may receive rewards for qualifying referrals.
Homage Brewing Gift Card
The Homage Brewing reward consists of a gift card redeemable toward any beverage at Homage Brewing's Chinatown location, 1219 N. Main St., Los Angeles, California. The gift card may be used toward eligible purchases offered by the merchant, subject to Homage Brewing's terms and applicable law.
The reward is not specifically redeemable for alcoholic beverages. Any purchase of alcoholic beverages requires valid identification demonstrating that the purchaser is at least 21 years old and is subject to Homage Brewing's alcohol-service policies and applicable law.
Third-party gift cards are subject to applicable law and the issuing merchant's terms and conditions. L.A. Material does not control the merchant's operations or the availability of specific products or services.
Top Referrer Party Invitations
A minimum of ten (10) participants with the highest number of Qualifying Referrals at the end of the Promotion Period will each earn an invitation to L.A. Material's End of Summer Party (the “Party”), approximate retail value: $50. L.A. Material may, in its discretion, invite additional participants.
The date, time, and location of the Party will be announced separately.
In the event of a tie for a final available invitation, the participant who first reached the tied number of Qualifying Referrals, as determined by L.A. Material’s referral system records, will receive the invitation.
Party invitations are non-transferable, and may not be exchanged for an alternate reward. Invitations are for the qualifying participant only unless L.A. Material expressly provides a plus-one.
L.A. Material reserves the right to modify the Party’s date, time, location, or format, or to cancel the Party if circumstances outside its reasonable control make the Party impracticable or unsafe. Attendees may be required to sign a standard liability waiver or media release as a condition of entry.
Reward Claim Window
Participants who earn a referral reward must claim the reward within thirty (30) days after L.A. Material sends notice that the reward is available.
Participants may be required to provide a mailing address or other information reasonably necessary to fulfill a reward. Failure to respond or provide requested information within the thirty-day claim period may result in forfeiture of the reward.
Once issued, third-party gift cards are subject to applicable law and the issuing merchant’s terms and conditions.
Modification and Cancellation
L.A. Material reserves the right to suspend, cancel, or modify the Referral Program if fraud, technical failures, platform errors, or other circumstances outside L.A. Material’s reasonable control interfere with the administration or intended operation of the Referral Program.
L.A. Material is not responsible for typographical, technical, or administrative errors affecting the Referral Program or the announcement or fulfillment of a reward, provided that L.A. Material may take reasonable steps to correct such errors.
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, rewards are provided without warranties or representations of any kind.
By participating, participants agree to release and hold harmless L.A. Material and its affiliates, promotional partners, officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims arising from participation in the Referral Program or the acceptance or use of a reward, except to the extent resulting from the gross negligence or willful misconduct of a released party.
Taxes
Participants are responsible for any taxes associated with rewards. L.A. Material may request information or issue tax documentation where required by applicable law.
Privacy
Participation in the Referral Program may involve the collection and use of information related to referral attribution, newsletter subscriptions and engagement, and information necessary to fulfill rewards. L.A. Material’s collection and use of personal information is subject to its Privacy Policy, available at https://lamaterial.com/privacy.
Governing Law
These Official Rules are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
If any provision of these Official Rules is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

The L.A. Material Referral Program is sponsored and administered by Scuttlebutt Media, Inc., d/b/a L.A. Material (“L.A. Material” or “Sponsor”).
